Our practicum classes offered are classes that are designed to shape and mold the individual student and grow them Spiritually in their walk with Christ. They will learn practical skills that they can then use for the rest of their lives. Our three practicum classes consist of assigned responsibilities and checking in to make sure that quality jobs have been accomplished every week as well as weekly outreaches to bring them out of their comfort zone. Included with these responsibilities are classes that help produce spiritually healthy habits concerning personal Bible study, corporate prayer, and weekly church involvement. Our college is meant to stretch and mold each individual out of their comfort zone and into a place where God can use them to the best of their abilities. Our three practicum classes offered are: Practical Christian Servanthood, Spiritual Disciplines, and Christian Community Service. A brief introduction to each class is listed below.
Practical Christian Servanthood (PCS)
PCS is a class designed to provide a structured environment to faithfully serve the other students while learning practical skills and applying them to the students’ lives. This class is crucial for two reasons. First, PCS cuts down on the operational cost of the facility. This savings is reflected in the overall tuition cost and benefits each student that attends. Second, there is an immediate benefit for the entire student body as each person serves in his/her area. It can be a lot of fun to learn these skills and serve your brothers and sisters in very simple ways.Students will be assigned to at least one area of servanthood to be a faithful servant every week. These areas include: food preparation, cleaning, landscaping, construction, and office administration.
The goal of this class is to help produce spiritually healthy habits concerning personal Bible study, corporate prayer, and weekly church involvement. Every weekday from 7-7:45 AM each student will be doing their own personal devotions, spending time in the word and prayer. From 7:45-8 AM, the women meet in one group and the men meet in another group for discussion and group prayer. On Wednesday morning there will be worship and a short teaching followed by prayer. Students are also required to attend and participate in the midweek KBC service and the Sunday morning CCF church service. It is required of you to help setup and teardown before and after each service as well as show respect by paying attention, taking notes, joining in fellowship before and after services as well as reaching out to each other and visitors. On Sunday mornings, you will need to be up in the church ready to serve by 8:45 AM and on Wednesday nights by 6:45 PM. This class is graded solely on attendance so it is important that you sign in on time.
Christian Community Service (CCS)
Through this class we are given a great opportunity to share the love of Christ with people who don’t already know Him. Each student will be given the option to either go and minister to the homeless at the local beaches or go visit the long term residents at Mahelona Hospital. These are ways to help you step outside of your comfort zone and fulfill the command that Jesus has set for us. The main focus of this class will be evangelistic outreach into the surrounding community. Our activities will include: singing worship music in hospitals while visiting with the patients and walking around the beaches with prepared food looking to reach out to the homeless population of our island.
